Introduction

In the interest of keeping myself personally motivated while searching for a job, I've found I'm getting a lot accomplished. While I'm waiting for the magic hire, I figure this is just as great an opportunity to knock a few more things off of what I'm calling my five-year plan. It's more of a bucket list, so to speak, but I thought the idea of a five-year plan would be just as much an "eff you" to the thought of being employed and- by extension- devoting all of my time with said job.

As part of this list of goals and hopeful accomplishments, I took a lot into account: where I want to go, what I want to do, how I will make myself better...and a few things to do just to say I did it. I'll be documenting each of the things I accomplish on this list, which I have been working on for quite some time. Additions may be made, and you can keep track of what I've done by looking at the items listed on the right side of this page.

Thanks go out to my buddy Brian for inspiring this idea (you can see Brian's 100 in 1001 blog here), and everyone who has gone out of their way to tell me that "now is the time to do these things". You've been absolutely right, and it starts now.

  1. I love this idea! It sounds cheesy but after the movie "A Walk to Remember" years back, I created a list of things I wanted to do before I die. You have now inspired me to get back on my horse and add new things MY list. Will you post photos of your adventures and new sights/experiences? That would be very cool to see/read! I think I can help with some of them too...like writing to a U.S. soldier :)

  2. Absolutely. I'd love to read all about it, and when you've got your list polished up, let me know; we'll work out an interview.
